Accommodations and Transportation Information

We are incredibly excited you are joining us in Boston for Folx Tales! We know you are making a big commitment to come. We hope this information might make your stay here go as smoothly as possible. If you are reading this, you are most likely from out of town. Please ask any questions you might have by emailing narrativetherapyinitiative@gmail.com.

While the Folx Tales event is happening on Thursday 4/25 & Friday 4/26 from 9am to 5pm, if you are joining us or considering joining us for the event on Tuesday 4/23 & Wednesday 4/24 (COURRAGE with Ncazelo Ncube), you will need a minimum of accommodations for 4/23 to 4/26 (3 nights) to participate in all 4 days.

Location and Public Transportation

All events will take place at The NonProfit Center at 89 South Street, Boston, MA, 02111. When you go to the NonProfit Center’s website, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see location, directions, parking options, etc. The NonProfit Center is in downtown Boston, nestled between Chinatown, the financial district, and the theatre district. It is a short walk from South Station, a major transportation hub in Boston. The venue can be accessed by the MBTA commuter rail and the Red Line of the subway, both via stops at South Station and then a 5-minute walk; the Orange Line of the subway from the Chinatown, Downtown Crossing, and State Street stops each within a 10–15 minute walk to the venue; the MBTA commuter rail stop at North Station with transfer to the Orange subway line. The Silver Line (bus) goes between Logan Airport and South Station. Subway fares are $2.40 per ride. 1–7 day passes are also available for purchase. Ride services (Uber, Lyft, and taxis) are abundant around the venue.

Accommodations Information

Staying in Boston proper can be quite expensive. For those of you that can afford to do so, we encourage you to stay at one of these Unionized Hotels. Most on this list are easily accessible to one of the public transportation options above or are walkable to the venue. For those of you that need lower-cost options, we suggest:

Cambria Hotel Boston, Downtown-South Boston (right across from Red Line stop of Broadway, free Wifi, $59 per day parking if coming by car with in-and-out privileges). The subway ride is about 5 minutes to South Station. Access to and from Logan airport with the Silver Line or ride service.

Ramada Boston (offers free breakfast, free airport shuttle, and free shuttle to and from the Red Line stop of JFK/Umass, free Wifi, $10 per day parking if coming by car). The subway ride is about 10–15 minutes to South Station.

Double Tree by Hilton Boston Bayside (free airport shuttle, walkable to the Red Line stop of JFK/Umass, free Wifi, $22 per day parking if coming by car and $22 breakfast). The Subway ride is about 10–15 minutes to South Station.

Hampton Inn Boston/Braintree (free shuttle to and from Braintree/Logan Express which is bus to airport, free shuttle to the Red Line stop Quincy Adams, free Wifi, free parking if coming by car and free breakfast). The subway ride is about 20–25 minutes to South Station.

If you will have access to a car, we suggest looking in Waltham, Woburn, Arlington,  Medford, and Watertown for accommodations. All of these cities are within short driving distances of public transportation and range from 15–25 minutes (without traffic) to drive to the venue. If you prefer to look at rentals on AirBnB or VRBO, we suggest looking at areas such as Cambridge, Somerville, Charlestown, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain, where public transportation is easily accessible.

Each day of events at the NonProfit Center, NTI will provide light breakfast and afternoon tea/coffee service. Lunch will be on your own. NTI will provide a list of local eateries.

We would like to know your plans for your stay! If you are willing, please take a moment to fill out this form. It will also help us to connect you with other Folx Tales participants if you are interested in sharing accommodations or rides.
